Scuba :: RBMA Lecture, Madrid 2011

RBMA have decided in their wisdom not to allow embedding, how nice of them. Click here to have a butchers at Scuba speaking on a whole host of topics at this years academy in Madrid.

It almost sounds like a rap boast — running a label in London, hosting a club night in Berlin, and DJing all around the world — but this is Scuba's life. His Hotflush label is a hotbed for contemporary dance music, dropping albums by Mount Kimbie, Joy Orbison, Sepalcure, and Roska, while his remix work hits some interesting cultural touchstones, from the Wu-Tang Clan to Fever Ray to Emika. One of the driving forces in UK bass music throughout the past decade, his latest endeavours saw him delve deeper into the 4/4 territory, winning over fans in the most unlikely of places. Here he talks about the daily routine of running a label, his techno roots, and why he hates dubstep, to the Academy's own, Gerd Janson.
